New Education Style with Digital Device

During the past 5 years, Digital devices have remarkably progressed; especially the sizes become smaller than the old ones. The provision of tablet device and smart phone makes us own the computer in the backpack or even in the pocket. Laptop also becomes confortable to bring in the baggage. So people do not feel troublesome to bring computer any more. The Students feel the same. I asked around 50 students in Temple University Japan campus whether they bring laptop or tablet to the class, and less than half of students always bring laptops or digital devices and others bring sometimes when they need. Here is the discussion whether digital devices are effective or not in the educational environment.

Affirmative people state that students don’t have to print every article and be messed up, and they can look up when they find something they don’t understand. For the creative students, they would like to use application setting that they used to because it’s hard to keep the school computer settings. On the contrary, students who don’t bring laptop say that they are accustomed to use the pen for taking notes, so they don’t need it. And some teachers do not want students open laptop because they use Facebook or some website unrelated to the class and lost the concentration.

However, there are several experimental introductions of digital device in class. In Japan, students are customarily shy, and they hesitate to speak their opinion in public, so in some university, professors provide twitter #hash tags and make students post their opinions and show on the screen, as a result, students become more involve in the discussions. Not only the upper level of education, primary schools also trying to introduce the digital device.  Elementary schools stated in the little island kids were used not to be able to catch up with the curriculum in city side, because there are not cram schools in such a district, even though more than half of kids in the city side go to the school, so it was hard to own the time to study out side of school. However, the introduction of the tablets changes their mind. One biggest reason is that teachers can know how kids’ homework is progressing, and kids can’t excuse. And also the contents itself is attractive for them because the educational applications seems video game, so it promoted the kids’ motivations. In the United States, where is the frontier of digital environment, schools are getting more positive for kids to bring it. Here is an article about this topic, and at the last paragraph, there is an example of interactive classroom with the social network. The notable thing is that all kids are getting involved in naturally.  If those classes become to be expected more, the education style would be change a lot for the next ten years, and we don’t see anybody who drops out of the classroom.

I’d like to work such kind of working place because they are thinking working place should be fun to do the creative Job. Not only the Apple, Google, Facebook, or Pixer also have he nice working place, so my dream is to work at such place.

KID’S EDUCATION BY USEING DIGITAL DEVICE

Educational App Maker Mindshapes Picks Up $4M Round Led By Index; Adds Big 5 Publishers To Magic Town

This article is the first what I want to show.

The Educational App for Kid’s would likely to become a huge market anytime soon. I don’t know which is better for Kids to old-school way or education by digital device. If those apps are successfully getting kids’ attention, it must accelerate the learning motivation for them, and they find new way about education.

I watched the Japanese news were talking about this topic, and that said several schools located in far from main island experimentally bring in to the classroom because they are likely to get less information and can’t go to the clam school like most Kids living in Tokyo go. As a result of this introduce, those who dont do the homework are decrease because teacher can check whether Kids did or not at anytime by online, so the education by digital device is effective. However, there are obstacles to introduce for example it takes too much cost if it’s introduced to the large number of Kids and so on.

I’m formative side for the digital device for education because our communication style is completely different from a decade ago, and probably next generation would increase people who do not need to belong to any organisation such as company or school, so I would like them to ready for and create such new life style.

Hello,thank you for taking time to read this entry.

this is Akihiro Morita. I am a TUJ student who is communication major and taking  the Newsroom Management class. I am interested in the Journalism works, so this class would be fun to me.

For about news the progress of online media makes me used to read news articles. I did not read newspaper, so I relied on the broadcast to correct news at the most, but online media is easy to accese the exact information which I need, and able to know what major Japanese  media are hiding. While online media is useful, I also have to get  media literacy to judge the correct information.

I often read the news about unemployed rate, especially youth unemployed rate is pretty high in Japan, Greece, Spain, etc, because I’m looking for job as well, but I want have different perception in this class. I would like to follow new technology stories. Probably there are lots of inovation news if I look for.

I have took several journalism courses. In Tokyo story class, I was joined group for making documentary about new clear pawer plant, we actually went Fukushima to interview citizen in there, and it was a nice experience for journalism skills.

For about production, I took a lot of production classes in TUJ. Documentary, Audio, Fiction movie, I can deal with the wide range of  production genre.
